The name is kinda dumb, and didn’t make me think of corner stores right away, but it also didn’t make me think of “convenience-story-replacing-vending-machine” either.
That said, if these machines end up putting ‘real’ bodegas out of business, is that his fault? If he provides a service that consumers prefer, then that’s on the consumers. Do you think the fridge manufacturers worried about the local milk deliverymen they were putting out of business? Did Craigslist shed a tear over the death of local newspapers, whose classified ad income has completely cratered?
If someone comes up with a customer service and experience that the customers prefer, isn’t it up to the previous iteration of that service to adapt, or perish?
